Go-getter Taurus – It’s time to boss up and take charge of your situations as we enter in Capricorn season. You’ll have a chance to spearhead new visions and ideas while taking into account perspectives from both sides of the coin.

The physical aspect (represented by Knight of Wands) is all about leveling up your gameplay. You’re no longer stuck in the mundane routine. Sure, being a creature of habit sounds comfortable. But, what will you achieve if you’re doing the same things every day? This is the part where finding greener pastures would be a necessity and not because someone told you to do it.

If you have to network, now is an excellent time to do so. Start attending events, hook up with others who share your passions and build meaningful partnerships. As you rise higher (whether it’s within your career, relationships or personal), don’t be afraid to make it known that the buck stops here. You’re not here to toy with trivial matters. We can be hardcore with our ambitions. At the same time, we need to understand that your viewpoints in striving for a better life may not resonate with others. The weather is getting cold, and things are turning dormant. But you mustn’t use this time to rest up. Instead, it’s time for you to figure out what your passions are – and to begin planting those seeds that will bloom in the future. The Queen of Wands is aware of what they want to pursue or grow – and like this card, it’s important for you to take stock of where you are as 2017 comes to a close. What’s working for you? The bill comes due as a reckoning takes place and the reasons behind things are called into question and pushed into the view of everyone. The period of push push push for more more more and nearly unbridled expansion at the expense of pragmatism and prudence is heading into a closing of the books when an audit is taken, and the cost is tallied. Have a backup plan and stash a bit of cash under the mattress (or in a safer, more protected place than wildly speculative stocks and other investments) as Summer 2018 approaches. Mars comes into the mix, and we’re likely to see some conflicts conflagrate between now and March. How can we best navigate these next couple of years while Saturn is in Capricorn?

We must be willing to relinquish control and realize we can’t always direct our environment to reflect our preferences. Instead, let’s discover what it means to be a passive beneficiary of forces greater than us moving us down paths we had not considered. Instead of needing to be an active participant to the point of it obsessively consuming our every thought and action, let us be a loving vessel that can receive and shape and then re-transmit out something new and different that reshapes and reimagines the future. There are things we need to divorce ourselves from, and this may include sudden ruptures or shocking ends. So many pentacles, Scorpio! These cards have you delving into new territories as the year continues to darken and draws to a close.

Use the solstice, the turn of the year, and the dark days of January to explore that deep and earthy side of yourself you so often ignore. We’re looking at your foundations here, the ground you stand on, the care you extend to yourself and others. You’re known for your darkness, your tendency towards the spiritual and intangible, but these cards want you to transpose your swirling end-of-year feelings into the tangible realm, creating something that can support you in the coming year.

The Ace of Pentacles at the centre heralds a fresh start. Many of us resolve to take better care of our bodies at this time of year – for you, this is less of a resolution and more of a deep-seated and necessary shift. The Ace (and the Page, left) encourage somatic curiosity. Value yourself, value your body, learn to pay attention to its needs so you can meet them or ask others for help. Take stock of what is and isn’t working for you in terms of your body and environment.

You may want to explore herbalism, or somatic therapies, or a different gender expression, or nutrition, or travel, or a new way of relating to your environment. Let go of any thoughts that you need to ‘know it all’ already, and allow yourself to be a beginner, a student, a curious and eager mind. This is a time for going deep and listening (really listening) to your body, and also for experimentation.

Don’t be too proud to ask for help – let this be a learning curve too. Ask for that hug, that buddy, that therapy, that donation. Let your community or loved ones support you. The Five of Pentacles shows us there is help available to you, Scorpio. Perhaps you’re not used to reaching out for it, but it’s there.

We first note that “Capricorn” is an energetic or vibrational field that we are attuned to, to varying degrees. This reading will be for those who have a strong Capricorn energy signature: those with a Capricorn Sun, Capricorn Moon, or Capricorn Rising. With the movement of Saturn into Capricorn coinciding with the beginning of Capricorn season, we reflect on the lessons Capricornian souls are learning, how they can contribute these lessons to the collective, and the guidance they ought to be conscious of now. Note: the generation born at the end of the 1980s-1990s (with Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus in Capricorn) much of this also pertains to you; as part of the role you play is about grounding and making real (Saturn), more expansive dimensions of mind (Uranus) and spiritual reality (Neptune). Part of your collective function is building the tangible structures in which these new ideas of mind and spirit can be anchored. THE SITUATION The Magician reversed. We are first attuned to how power has been misdirected or abused. With Pluto in Capricorn in the background for Capricornian souls, the Magician Rx highlights this Plutonic theme of power and how it is wielded – we are asked to reflect on the kind of power that has been effective and the kind that has been ineffective. Capricorn soul, your duty is to pay attention to the fact that in this new cycle, the old Capricornian way of wanting to “lord it over” others is not the most aligned use of power, nor the most effective. You are growing into a more mature awareness of what power is. The Magician suggests that power has everything to do with how the mind is directed and less about the physical, tangible utensils which often keep us invested in a solely external understanding of power. So this Capricorn season, with Saturn’s ingress into Capricorn, there is a demand that those tuned to the Capricornian vibration be aware of this now. THE LESSON Temperance. The old Capricornian way tends to be hierarchical, but Temperance suggests that in the new Saturn cycle, power is more about collaboration, synthesis, and a merger of elements and forces. Temperance indicates that there is another way. In this Capricorn season, and indeed while Saturn remains within your sign, see if you can bring your awareness to how there may be a different means of accomplishing the same goal that does not require a top-down, hierarchical, ‘by myself’ approach. The Magician reversed suggests that you do not have to do things alone, and indeed that perhaps you are less effective now with this approach. Saturn moving into Capricorn wants to teach Capricorn souls (the builders of systems and structures) a higher expression of what can be tangibly accomplished (Saturn) through collaboration (Temperance). THE GUIDANCE The Lovers. A symbol of coming together, integration, merger, and cooperation. Could the message be any clearer? Note that too much Capricornian self-sufficiency means that other contributing parts of the collective or group do not get to make their contribution – and you do not benefit from their input. Be aware too that embracing the path of collaboration and synthesis will reveal new aspects of your being that would have been hidden from you if you did not open yourself up to the input of others in the accomplishment of your goals. Settlement. Journey.  Ascension.

Settlement. The Aquarian mind is the gate flung open between how the world has always been and what is possible. We know the work of living; the path of domestication; the thrill of assimilation and adornment. When we see the purpose, even us rebels can settle into worldly thrones. We know the weapons to bring to preserve peace. We also often feel it first when the tide changes, and it’s time to move on from convention. We have a message in our bones this month.  The Empress tells us to sink deep into the earth, into what our skin feels, our eyes see, into what we taste and hear. This place is both nurturing and comfortable. It’s up to us to know when our bones lie. The monkey mind seeks to swaddle us in its desperate little arms. It’s up to us to tread the border between fear-based complacency and courage-fueled expansion. Journey. We hunger, and the universe responds by beckoning for us to rise. Our thrones can become wings but only if we rise above our comfortable perches, letting go of the illusion of dominion.  The Empress stands and becomes Temperance. The monkey mind still focused backward on scarcity, limitation,  physicality and is still able to rise; to go beyond the surface level of appearances and sprout wings – the means to ascend higher yet. It’s up to us to tread the border between ego-based expansion and values-based journeying. Ascension. How this month plays out for you will depend on how you view yourself. Have you lost yourself in the physical details of the last year? Have you grasped for comfort instead of responding to the call to rise? Those of us that have needed to lean into the soil for extra support up until now will be called to rise forth from darkness. Those of us that tore our eyes away from the past, physical circumstance and limitation, will be called to take flight and brandish the instruments of awakening in their respective communities. Even as you bring the revelation revolution, it’s up to you to resist the urge to make distinctions between yourself and others. If they make the sound that wakes you up, they are still you. If they respond to your call and rise, they are still you. Any difference you perceive between yourself and other is illusory no matter what role you play or who you are.  We are all the same before war, pestilence, famine, and death.
