This February, Aries influenced individuals are going to need to use the energy of the ram to intentionally forge a path into greater awareness about their limitations and need for support.

We start with the “lift-off” card, Ice-olation. It can be tempting for us to isolate ourselves when we are focused on trailblazing a path to greatness. Isolation keeps us from getting distracted, but It can also be a defense mechanism to protect us from disappointment. Well Aries, that’s a risk you’ll need to take this month. You are human and you have a need for connection just like anyone else. Use discernment about who you can be vulnerable with and when.

The Miser asks you to stop withholding. Whether it’s energy, time, love or resources, you have a lot to share. Use this month to give what you can and it will help you open up and receive what you need as well.

The Burden card indicates your need to unload something that is weighing on you. More than likely, it is self-inflicted. Look to your support system to assist you with lightening the load this month in areas of emotional distress as well as everyday tasks. If you feel like there’s no one in your life you can trust, connect with your ancestors for guidance and support. It is Black History Month, after all. Pay your respects and give them the opportunity to assist you from the spiritual realm.

Stress comes up warning that if you do not lay some of these burdens down, you will be just like the man on this card, struggling to do too much of everything. Avoid this by putting your pride to the side, asking for help and pacing yourself.

The Beyond Illusion card appears next, telling us that one way or another Aries, you will see things for what they are this month. It could be through wise steps you have taken to get to the truth or life serving you a dose of reality. Either way, February will bring clarity. It’s up to you to use it in your best interest.

The Awareness card comes, solidifying February’s energy of truth and understanding for you. Towards the end of this month after the illusions have shattered, you will have the opportunity to operate from a level of greater awareness as you start to prepare for Spring. Document what you’ve learned so that harmful patterns are cleared.

Lastly, we have the Totality card. This month will end on a good note if you take a cue from the trapeze artists on the card and give your attention to faith & trust. It starts with yourself. Trust your intuition to lead you to the right decisions and the right people. You’ll be able to go further and fly higher if you do.

The 9 of Pentacles reversed speaks to an internal sense of stability that has been manifested and created by your own sheer will. You are calling the shots, walking your path confidently, and vibrating with an energy that is self-sufficient and powerful.

My Taurus Loves, you are going to be called to focus on self this month. With Strength being ruled by Leo and the Sun, the majority of your active energy that you would normally use to ensure the security of others will be used for yourself without shame or care of judgement. There are still some things that you are working through for yourself and this internal processing will only allow for your ability to continue to ground and grow in your purpose and projected plans.

Darkness is alive in us. With our attention, we animate the shadows in our lives and make of ourselves fodder for fear. We are compost, prey consumed. And then, we are apart of a legacy of those who know risk, darkness, and death, and dare anyway.

We are both sides of Strength. There is, in every problem an opportunity to recognize the power needed to persist and the potential to do what’s needed. This month is about that kind of opportunity.

Persistence.

Touching the shadow(Strength)  means recognizing it as us. The Strength card is home base for warrior Leos and Leo-affiliated. It’s also the card of survivors. Survival often seems like a surface matter, the food, the shelter, etc.  It goes beyond that. Deeper than the initial adrenaline burst and its counterpart, the animal-like intuitive response.

We survive by believing what we need to keep going, in ourselves, others, in ideas. We cling to fears, deny them, we play up certain emotions and downplay others. Survival is about whatever it took at the moment.

Shadows get stronger layered on top of each other. The more we’ve been through, the more resourceful we can be, the more compassionate, but also the more avoidant. It’s not guaranteed that every lion will claim the same traits, but the potential is there.

Perspective.

The six of swords warns of another potential. It asks, what does it mean to stay the current course? The way you relate to time, planning, words, and your thoughts, is it left over from when you needed to be very brave? Like armor? This season, be very interested in mental courses that you’ve plotted in the past out of necessity.

Apply the loving touch of your awareness.

I’m not going to tell you to let go. You cannot let go of you. Why would you want to? Grit, charm, experience, enthusiasm, warmth, and realism. You need every tool you’ve ever grasped in your lifetime; every arrow lodged in the wood of your boat. And, you don’t need them all, all the time.

It’s up to you to identify what you need and when. No, you can’t let go. But, you can recognize yourself. You can touch yourself with the light of awareness:

• I’m avoiding that work because I think I need panic to be productive
• I’m pushing that person because I’m afraid they will abandon me if I don’t
• I’m talking to myself that way because I’m not sure what softness sounds like
• I’m offended because I’m not sure you’re wrong

Only stay the courses that you choose. To the rest say, “I see you there. You are me, also.” Touch the shadow until its hold on you fades.

An important decision needs to be made this month. You’ve been hesitating mainly due to fear. A part of you is scared that you will make the wrong choice. Have faith that whatever you decide, it’s the right choice. It’s also time that you stop asking everyone what they think you should do. It’s only confusing you. Dig deep and listen to your intuition. The answer is inside of you if you choose to listen. Leaping into the unknown can be just the magick that you need to kick off a beautiful chain of adventures.

Look toward creating more balance in your life. Right now it looks like work is the priority. You may not even realize how much of a toll it’s taking on you. Between not loving your job and a boss you probably know way more than, you are over it. Make sure that all of that doesn’t affect how you approach life. Allowing frustration to take hold of you takes away from your happiness. It also zaps your energy. All you will want to do it sit on the couch or take a nap. Push yourself to live life to the fullest. There are so many opportunities waiting in the wings. Don’t let work get in the way.

You will finally gain recognition for all the hard work that you do. Don’t think it hasn’t been noticed. The universe has quietly been making moves on your behalf. The seeds that you’ve planted are about to bloom. You just may get an unexpected promotion. That always means more money is coming your way. Saturn, the much-maligned planet that rules the sign Capricorn, has recently entered its own sign. This happens every twenty-eight years. When a planet is in the sign it rules, the qualities and attributes of that planet are accentuated, especially for those born under its sign.

Saturn is the Lord of Karma, and as such is a strict but fair taskmaster. Its passage through its sign is a two and a half year “Master Class” in structure, discipline, hard work, karma, responsibility, and profitable manifestation. As Capricorns, what does this mean for us and how can we make the most of this experience this month?

For a clear, direct, unbiased answer, I consulted seventy-eight good friends– my Tarot cards. I laid the cards out using the “Chalice Spread” from my book, 101 Tarot Spreads. A chalice is a cup with a bowl that contains the life-supporting essence of what we need to provide our systems with and a stem that hopefully is strong enough to support the bowl and its ingredients. I was relieved, happy, and empowered by what I saw when I turned the cards over.

The bowl of this chalice spread is made up of two Saturn ruled cards– the Queen and King of Pentacles. Though the Saturn in Capricorn passage will often involve hard, mundane work, this strong, commanding, royal presence assures us that if we use this month to plan wisely and take appropriate, practical steps– we can make our hopes, wishes and dreams come true.

The stem or support card of this spread is the Six of Swords, indicating we’ll have powerful support from both the ethereal and mundane planes in coming up with and executing the profitable ideas we Capricorns love to work with. In addition to which, it reminds us that this is a time of increased opportunities, and to please be on the look-out for them.

For additional information, I pulled a bonus card that answered the question, “What’s in the chalice?” As you can see, Temperance, the card of luck, blessings, expansion, and Divine balance, is in the chalice.

This is the cherry on the sundae! It confirms that by using the best attributes of Capricorn– our natural abilities to think strategically, work constructively, embrace discipline, and accept responsibility–, we’ll be assisted by Divine Guidance in successfully finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

This is a time of great importance and a time of abundant opportunity. Throughout it all, a good reminder to keep in your mental toolkit is this quote by Shakespeare, “Though the seas threatened, they are merciful. I have cursed them without cause.”

Well my fellow Aquarius, we’ve made another trip around the Sun.

How do you feel about your journey? We’ve had a hell of a year, especially as an air sign. Logic flew out of the window in terms of political and social issues, only to be replaced by the F*cknut Follies. But we hunkered down, continued our efforts to convince Uncle Bubba (with small words and animated PowerPoint slides) that climate change is real and renewed our subscription to The Guardian.

The Ten of Pentacles – presented here as the Tree of Life – advises us that our birthday season is a great time to step back and take stock of the good in our lives, what our positive thoughts and – most importantly – actions have produced, no matter how big or small.  We tend to think ourselves out of congratulating ourselves: resist the urge to do that, at least for this month (I know this is hard).

Judgement supports this. It says, “Hey, so what if Uncle Bubba still insists on wearing that ‘Drill Baby Drill’ t-shirt. You haven’t failed.” Remember, life is short and heads are hard: relax, let go for a bit, then regroup. Pluto, whose glyph is shown on the card, lends its gentle energy of change for this (Side note: Remember, Pluto is in Capricorn – the sign of tradition and the old guard. This signals change – albeit slow –  on the political and societal fronts). Another thing, see those hearts fluttering up from the bottom? You may not think anyone’s listening to you blow your trumpet, but they are.

And finally, the Emperor appears to remind us to stand in our power. But, do it in an elegant fashion. No need for screaming or hollering. Be fair. Seek counsel if need be. And be royal enough to wrap your tough love in the cloak of mercy.

Hold to God’s Unchanging Hand,

This is a verse from an old Christian hymn. But, the wisdom therein does not require one to subscribe to any specific doctrine or dogma. It contains an axiom that transcends the container of religious practice and spiritual beliefs. It’s ever-present in nature. Besides, your life right now is all the evidence you need to rightly discern its truth. With that said, the song quoted above is the perfect mantra for you during February, Pisces.

Change is constant. Sometimes that change is welcome; a balm to stagnancy, a fresh wind. And other times change is the disruption that breaks us free from the comfort of inertia, the kind that we remain in because the possibility of failure is to great a risk.

But when staying the same is not an option, that forced choice can feel lose-lose. It can feel like you must sacrifice something either way you go because neither option aligns with what you think you want. Know this, though; the shortsightedness of binary thinking often blinds us to the bigger picture.

No matter how narrow the path before you, no matter the sacrifices you must inevitably make to get from where you are to your next destination; the bigger picture is that there is, in fact, a constant in the midst of change.

Should you so choose, you can replace God with “Mindful, Conscious Awareness,” “Spirit,” “Love,” or whatever reminds you of your central foundation. Identifying your constant in the midst of your life’s current changes is absolutely necessary for you to maintain emotional perspective, an emotional perspective that allows you to move intuitively rather than with overzealous, misdirected passion.

What grounds you, Pisces? What keeps you in your body, empowered to remain present with an agility of mind?

If you can ground yourself in whatever that is like a cornerstone for the coming month, then you will be preparing yourself for graduation. Yes! This change and the choices before you are here to help you recognize that you’ve gone as far as you can go on this part of the journey. The road splits here. Thus, you’ve reached the end of the line.

Hold on to that unchanging hand. Let it guide you. Let it provide you solace and comfort with the knowledge that your path forward is tethered to a constant that remains unchanging no matter the changes and choices that time brings.
