ARIES

Brittany

Pagan Otherworlds Tarot, published September 2016 by Uusi Design Studio.

Oh Aries, this is not the easiest reading for you.

You have some weaknesses of yours on display here. The Magician reversed speaks to power without focus, energy without a conduit. You are prone to this. As the children of the zodiac, you have an infectious and earnest energy, but you sometimes have trouble finding productive ways to channel that energy. It can leave you feeling confused and burned out, pulled in too many directions. Your loyal heart urges you to fight every battle, but that can only end with your back against the wall.

The Ten of Pentacles reversed calls out risky and reckless behavior. This card is one of the most grounded cards in the deck, but when reversed it speaks to a lack of common sense and good judgment. Ruled by Mars, Aries is always ready for a fight. This isn’t a bad thing–someone needs to be on the front line and you’re the one with the courage to be there. But what, exactly, are you fighting for? Is it worth your tender heart? Is it worth your loyalty? Is it worth your righteous fury?

These reversed cards aren’t the most comforting. They ask some tough questions, but the Four of Swords is front and center, giving you some obvious advice for this season. Quite literally, put down your sword. For an airy suit, there’s an awful lot of grounding energy in the Four of Swords. It’s a card of rest and retreat. Even you, Aries, with your never-ending energy, need a break sometimes.

Now is a great time to sink into the quiet, fallow energy of fall. Take a step back. Let Scorpio season pull you inward. Even the greatest warriors need to lay down their swords sometimes. There’s a place for your grit and there’s a place for your aggression, so take this time to figure out what, exactly, you’re fighting for. What battle deserves your courage, Aries?

TAURUS

Melissa

Pagan Otherworlds Tarot, published September 2016 by Uusi Design Studio.

I know you’ve felt stuck lately, and that’s ok. The three of Wands inverted is reminding you that stuck doesn’t always mean you’ve hit a dead end. Sometimes it’s an opportunity to look around and get an idea of your surroundings.

I remember when my kid was little I would use a “No Arm” to keep him from getting turned into squish on the road. He was so excited to go to the park or wander around the zoo, that he didn’t get his bearings before he took off. I know you’re excited, but if you move too quickly – squish.

The Justice card is reminding you that things are going to work out fairly for you, but you have to trust the process. Accepting the facts that you are really smart, determined, and really want your way, we must also accept the fact that you can’t make the other pieces of the puzzle work on your timeline. You’re in charge of you and your decisions, and you have to allow other people to work on their own stuff. You can’t change other people, and you can’t fix people you didn’t break.

The four Wands tell us that it’s going to be okay – pretty much. It’s inverted, so there has to be an adjustment made in your expectation. There is a tendency I’ve found with my Tauran (Taurian?) friends that once they make a decision, it’s made, and any deviation from said decision is Wrong. You don’t always get to know what okay is going to look like, but you have to trust that your journey – even the stuck parts – will lead you to where you need to go.

GEMINI

Jessi

The Wildwood Tarot, Sterling Publishers, 2011

Clever, Universal-Minded Gemini,

Your quick-wit and inclination for the intellectual are well-served this month in the form of a new project or pursuit. You’re always at the ready for the chance to put your knowledge into practice, so chances are you’ll jump at this opportunity as soon as it finds its way into your orbit.

As you launch into scheming and planning, remember to breathe—air is the element of your sign, after all, and filling yourself with its life-giving properties will help you to remain logical and level-headed as you get this endeavor underway. If you feel overwhelmed or doubtful, just inhale and settle your monkey mind so the best and brightest solutions surface so you can pull your ideas from the ethereal realm into the real one.

And as you begin this new venture, consider how the thoughts and ideas of others might help you sharpen your focus and realize your vision. You may think you know the best way to do things (after all, you’re highly intelligent, well-read, and you aren’t shy about sharing your views), but if you hold space to listen to others you may be surprised to discover that three heads are better than one.

Your ability to play devil’s advocate helps you consider many different approaches and potential challenges, but even you can’t anticipate every possibility. Open yourself to the wisdom of those who’ve been where you are now and can provide hard-won advice to help you avoid a pitfall or two. If you can lay down your pride and ask for help when you need it, things will progress much more quickly and smoothly.

This lunar month holds great promise for you—you’re reaching an event horizon of sorts, and soon you’ll be sucked into the vortex of forward progress and momentum. The capacity you have to make the most of this movement depends upon your will to see things through no matter the obstacles or challenges you face.

The payoff here promises to be huge, but the universe isn’t going to serve it up on a silver platter. Rather, you’ll have to work diligently to bring your vision into being, and if you declare that you will not go gently into that good night, you just might see your dreams realized.

CANCER

Arwen

The Dark Goddess Tarot

Using the Dark Goddess Tarot, I asked, “What does Cancer need to know most about this upcoming cycle?”

Welcome to the dark side of the moon, darlings. I have a Scorpio moon so I adore this time of year. Let’s see what the Ladies of the Shadows have for you this Scorpio season.

Well, we open up with a real wail of a good time. It’s La Llorona, that Hispanic mourning lady who searches for her children. She will take you and yours if you aren’t careful—or so goes the tale. Try not to let yourself wallow in resentment or bitterness. It’s pretty easy to slide into a pit of ugly where other people are concerned.

Remember that it’s useless to try to fix Crazy. Crazy doesn’t fix. Crazy just gets crazier. So your job is to weep if you need to, but let those tears be cleansing ones. It might be a really good idea to take a mad bath. That’s where you sit in the tub and let it all loose. If you put towels out, you can indulge in a splashing tantrum. Then let the water, and all that mad, go down the drain.

Next up, it’s that Hindu Diva Herself, Kali. She’s got a bit of a rep (we all know someone like this, right?) Most of it was spread by those who didn’t buy into her whole “imma destroy this chit so you can rebuild.” But that’s a Scorpionic energy if ever there was one, Cancer. Kali is the Tower aka Destruction.

Time to tear things down. Look around your structures and systems. What old-school nonsense are you still carting around? Dump that. Like the mad bath, you can put all that useless garbage of “I’m not good unless I’m skinny etc” into your colon. Then push it out. Don’t forget to flush. And light a match for goodness sake.

Whew! The last card is Justice. Ma’at, Egyptian Goddess, meets the dead with a scale in her hand. On one side is a pure white feather. On the other, she places your still beating heart (I know…the Egyptians were fierce, weren’t they?) If your heart is lighter than that feather, you get to cross. Otherwise, the crocodile God eats you.

The Egyptians didn’t play. Your calling this month is to balance the scales. Justice is on your side, but there will be tears. There will be a Karmic cost that you must pay by destroying that negative self-talk. Hang in there, Cancer. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.

LEO

Marianne

Nine of Water | The Empress | The Emperor

A little bit of this and a little bit of that are the things dreams are made of this month, Leo! The Nine of Water shows us how good it feels when our needs are met, when our visions are realized, when our wishes come true. In the month ahead, think about what that feeling means to you, and put your many shining resources into chasing that feeling down! With one caveat…

Be measured. Stay balanced. Isn’t it nice to see The Empress and The Emperor side by side like this? Together, they remind us that we all have the capacity to be hard and soft, to be reflective and to be outwardly directed, to tend our gardens meanderingly, and to suit up and walk the straight and narrow with one clear destination in mind. This month, Leo, those multitudes are within you, waiting to be expressed – creator and destroyer, observer and instigator, romantic and pragmatist.

Throughout Scorpio season, be mindful of throwing a bit of everything into your approach. Have you been going super hard on yourself? Maybe it’s time to give yourself time to rest and replenish. Have you been waiting too long for a project to organically take shape? Get in there and whip it into shape by force of will (we know you’re willful, Leo!). The way to that sweet, sweet fulfilled feeling lies in balancing all of your varied and contradictory gifts. Don’t be afraid to wear many hats this month – that way good things lie!

How’s it going, Virgo? I can almost feel you cringing as we enter the intense, emotional waters of Scorpio Season: the definition of ungrounded, passionate energy is swirling all around, and your need for order is scrambling to hold it all together against the odds. Well, that’s exactly what you should be focusing on now! You’re being presented with an opportunity to really “hear within,” to get in touch with the inner voice that you sometimes like to pack away in favour of keeping everything looking great and orderly on the surface.

You are beginning to receive intuitive nudges, messages about exactly what to do here: part of the bogged-down feeling you have is simply a need to simplify, to get back to the self-care practices that you had in full effect at the end of the summer, but that have now slipped to the wayside a bit as Autumn picked up speed and you found your hands full of work once again.

Virgo, I wish I could tell you that you have permission to just stop and rest – not just yet! You’ve come too far and you really need to just keep going. This is a time to let your creative side flourish, to channel everything you’re feeling into something productive! It’s also a time to make use of the rebellious Scorpio energy swirling and to take inspiration where it comes to determining which of your personal structures are not working for you and coming up with new ways to do it better. That’s what you do best! You’re moving into a very positive place, with just a few kinks left to iron out, in favour of freeing your mind and feeling like you’re able to act on all the new ideas you’ve been coming up with for how to get yourself and your life in even better order.

Yes, it’s normal to feel like things are crumbling a bit at this time of year like they’re getting a bit too messy for comfort! This is a time to focus on You, to set aside time to think and make the decisions that have been hanging over your head. It’s time to visualize what your “happy place” looks like, and trust that all you really need to do to achieve that is Make a Wish and hold it in your heart and mind! Hang in there and keep fighting for what you want for yourself – your perseverance will absolutely pay off. Focus on grounding yourself to stay sane as the nights get longer and darker: step by step, you’re making it through.

Ponder this …
• How can I experience true intimacy ?
• What is (re)surfacing that I need to be willing to be present with and integrate rather than turn away from out of fear, shame, denial ?
• Who is unhealthy or even toxic in my life that I need to distance myself from or remove completely ?
• What self-care do I need to engage in to restore myself rather than continuing to be drained from always taking care of others ?
« It’s not selfish to love yourself, take care of yourself, and to make your happiness a priority. It’s necessary. » Mandy Hale

We feel a haunting note as Jupiter has entered Scorpio, its home for the next year. Jupiter symbolises what frees us, what expands us, or what overflows. While Jupiter is in Scorpio, it calls us to free ourselves by getting down to the roots with intensity, seriousness, and focus. Jupiter in Scorpio promotes research and investigation. It imparts the urge to get real, or get even (not the same thing).

Scorpio wants us to cut through the social niceties and get down to fundamentals; for some it may be about sex, for others spelunking in their psyche or rebuilding cultural foundations. Jupiter will feel like pressure where many issues that have been hidden or denied are going to be flushed out into the open. What was hidden was hidden because it was, in theory, so ugly, and now it’s being brought to the light, where you can see it — and where healing is possible. Jupiter spends about a year in a sign once every 12 years, so we can think back on the years following November 1993 and October 2005 to reflect on how Jupiter in the Scorpio affects us personally.

Intimacy seems to be the theme of the month for you Librans.

While you can be very relationship oriented, there can be a tendency to overthink and overanalyze relationships to the point that they become a mental exercise rather than an embodied, felt experience rather than a thought through the situation.

With Jupiter in Scorpio, the King of Cups reversed suggests that there are likely to be some deep-seated and deeply rooted issues, upsets, hurts, traumas and heartbreaks that will be triggered and brought right up to the surface of our consciousness.

There is an opportunity for deep and profound healing to take place right now. But you have to be willing to give yourself over to it rather than recoil in the fear of being present and sitting with the difficult, the painful, the (self-proclaimed) shameful aspects that may be coming up. Be with them rather than be fearful of them … own them rather than trying to suppress them … integrate them into a greater sense of wholeness for who you are and what makes you rather than trying to cut them out or away.

A voluntary self-examination is needed right now. Unfortunately, most self-care and therapy has been reduced to medication, which seemingly excuses people from the need to be open, vulnerable and self-reflective in support of their own growth.

You may find that you are encountering some rather unhealthy, if not toxic, individuals during this month. While there is a time and a place for giving such people a chance or the benefit of the doubt or trying to work through the issues they bring, this is not the time. Instead, it will serve you better to either remove them or remove yourself from the equation, to establish some distance and spend time in self-care mode, nurturing, repairing, restoring your emotional self and spirit.

Healer, heal thyself … you may be feeling drained, spent like you’ve got nothing left to give or offer. And it’s true. Only because you are so giving, so loving, so generous, you have lost yourself to being in service of others, trying to make sure everyone is happy, being the source to alleviate everyone else’s thirst; you have allowed yourself to go thirsty.

For now, the only responsibility you need to bear is your own wellbeing. Others need to take care of themselves for a while.

There is a need to tap back into the wellspring of creativity that is sourced in your Soul. Make time to swim in the waves of inspiration and immerse yourself in creativity to the point that sense of time and space. Reconnect with your intuition … your heart knows what you need … your spirit whispers the answers you seek if you stop and be still long enough to hear them … your soul is ready with what will refresh and revive you if you dive deep enough.

Happy Birthday, Fellow Scorpios!

For you my passionate Scorpio, a phase has come to completion. As the seasons are changing, you are being asked to fully embrace the energy of Transition and for good reason too – the planet Jupiter will be in your sign for a whole year! Get ready for tons of growth and expansion! A new chapter is awaiting you – one of love, rebirth, spiritual growth, and compassion. In order to get there, however, you must let go of any extra baggage so that you can strut into your birthday all shiny and new!

As the leaves fall from the trees to prepare for new growth in the Spring, so too must you leave behind the old, dead things in your life that need to be released. Let them float away gently on the breeze. There is no turning back. You feel the complete fullness of this energy and you cannot deny that now is the time. Go after your fulfillment, but don’t forget to integrate the lessons from this page in your story.

Samhain Focus
Cycles & Forgiveness

This Samhain put your energy into breaking cycles and clearing up old patterns of behavior. Explore them in shadow work or visit a past life to get to the reasoning behind them. Where does the root cause of this cycle stem? How did it generate? More importantly, how can you release it to begin to heal? You are reducing the burden by breaking the habit or ending the karmic cycle. Extend forgiveness to those who played a part in this cycle. Most of all my love, don’t forget to forgive yourself.

Where to Find Guidance
Tarot

For more clarity on how to break these cycles to aid in your transition, your Spirit Guides are encouraging you to connect to their guidance through a Tarot Reading! You can even pull cards for each month to determine where you can put your focus for your upcoming year! Whether you read for yourself or get your cards read by a trusted reader, it may prove to be the best birthday treat you could give to yourself!

From my soul to yours,

xo Ariel

SAGITTARIUS

Colin

The Mythic Tarot first published by US Games Inc, 1986

These are the issues in the cards: strength (obviously), partnership (maybe), risk (probably).

And these are the adjectives of the season: intense, sexy, bold.

And these are the virtues of your sign: expansive, faithful, questing.

Let’s talk about money. Is it sexy? Absolutely! We know that it won’t buy you everything. Just most things.

So if you decide to go for it this month, remember Hercules who conquered the Nemean Lion.

Could you do that?

Alright. Not an actual Lion. But what Lion lurks in your inner world this month? What rampant untamed beast that is an enemy now, sabotaging your efforts in every way, but that will become your greatest friend and ally once you master it?

This is step one.

Taken care of that? — Oh come on, you don’t need a tarot reader to tell you how. No, that’s what your shrink/personal trainer/juice-fast consultant is for — so, again, done that? Yes? Great! So now you are ready to become the charismatic, fun-loving, and yes, prosperous, Sagittarian you were born to be. Let’s get serious about that dough, that mullah, those spondulicks.

In Scorpio season our thoughts turn to interesting places. Scorpio is the natural ruler of the 8th House. Traditionally a realm of love and death, of taxes, of sex, and of other people’s money.

But there’s a message here for your money. How to enhance your stash if you have one, or how to get one if you don’t. The six of pentacles can be a card of ‘making it happen’ of ‘getting what you wish for’. The two of Pentacles indicates financial transition.

Daedalus (the guy in the 6 and the 2) was a skilled (one of the very best) craftsman, perhaps, more importantly, caught many times in ethical dilemmas he found a way to embrace (a psychologist would say, integrate) the light and the dark within himself. Well Sag, that is exactly what you would take on in Scorpio season, isn’t it?

Remember two things:

One: contact your inner Hercules first.

Two: the usual rules apply: know your outcome, visualize your result: take action.

And if after all that, none of this wealth creation works, well then, find a tame Scorpio, or even a wild one. Sag/Scorpio is about the sexiest combo in the zodiac.

Lucky you!

CAPRICORN

Gina

What a busy bee you’ve been, my dear Capricorn. The world has been feeling like a meadow full of wildflowers. A whole array of opportunities have been laid out before you, all beautiful, tantalizing, and exciting. With your curious nature, you’re sure to sample as much as you can, and this curiosity is paying off. Now, rich with experiences and jazzed up with inspiration, you’re emerging from the past month with a newfound sense of possibility.

It’s interesting how letting go and following your nose can unleash hidden wisdom and talents. Seeing the world as a place full of possibilities is both enlightening and fun. You spread your wings and the world reached out to greet you. When we’re fully illuminated we can see what once lived in the shadows. Be proud of the new facets you’ve identified and give them room to grow.

At the same time, this bounty brought out a more pragmatic side to your personality that was biding its time, gathering information for the next move while you cavorted and sampled each flower. Opportunities and abundance are wonderful, but you’re more interested in depth and commitment. Not in a stifling, sense, of course, but as a rich foundation to build upon.

While initially you may have felt overwhelmed by all the paths open to you, you’re finding yourself on more solid ground. It has been a sense of gradual grounding that is only subtle because it feels right. Trust the sensation of holding your power close to you and feeling your body’s response – where do you want to go from here? What is pulling you in a solid and primal way?

Check in with yourself now, as you narrow your focus. Look back fondly on all you’ve been through, the good and the bad. Assess just how far you’ve come and do an inventory on all the skills you now have at your disposal. Things are about to speed up quite soon.

Scorpio season is the time to spring forth with verve and passion, darling Capricorn. You have a beautiful moment to savor being in-between, a quick breath to reminisce over the pleasures of the past and envision what lies waiting for you in the future. After that, however, you’re leaping from that lilypad and onto the next.

The end of this season will mark a transition from the ephemeral flow of feelings to the stimulating and dare I say lusty world of action. Pure embodiment of one’s nature is magnetic and unmistakable. As you enter into this new willful and present incarnation of yourself you’ll be clearly broadcasting your talents as well as your irresistible animal magnetism. Get ready for the responses you’ll receive from your own majestic beacon. It’s going to be quite magical…

AQUARIUS

Siobhan

The CBD Tarot de Marseille 2010

I trip walking down the stairs, but I can skate them probably.

Shaun White

OK, I know you’re excited.

I’m excited too. And because I write from the perspective of your ranks, fellow Aquarians, I know that that excitement is enough to run you ragged. This trend of new ideas, support from everywhere, and new collaborators, it’s not gonna let up. Not for a while.

You love it. You love the race, the synthesis, to lock yourself up in a million threads of information and spark like some kind of organic circuit board. And while you always seek this feeling, it hasn’t always panned out that you’ve gotten to feel it. Not in 2017. (So far.) Even if it never felt like it, this was probably a blessing. Because if things didn’t fall through, challenge, and delay you, can you honestly say that you’d know when to stop?

I sure can’t.

It’s probably useless to tell you not to forget to slow down. Especially when all the stars and planets seem to tell you to keep going, to land the kickflip on a staircase railing and ride it down, concrete be damned.

Temper the cyclone, folks. The only sustainable option is the one where the concrete ends up being your friend. Where your body is your friend. Where you have time to heal. Where you have the perspective to not just count all that money but steward it. Steward yourself. When you hit the pavement, let it be gentle. Go easy.

There will be more where that came from.
There will be more where that came from.
There will be more where that came from.

I know I say it like I know everything. (I do.) And if you’re anything like I think you are, you already feel it too. Momentum building and things getting easier. We have the capacity to destroy everything. In fact, it’s what we’re here for. Ourselves included. But that’s only half the story. Make sure you conduct yourself in a way so that you have the energy to rebuild. This other half is essential. The world needs you.

PISCES

Phoebe

The Tarot of Marseille of Jean Noblet (Paris c.1650) restored by Jean-Claude Flornoy. Published by: Editions “letarot.com”.

Have you been feeling as though you’re in the dark, on a mission whose goal is murky however many intentions you set, or to-do lists you write? Maybe it’s just the coming of winter, but light and warmth seem to be in short supply these days, especially when it comes to navigating certain issues. Perhaps you feel that you’re alone here, and no matter what you decide, you run the risk of alienating others or reaching a compromise where no one is satisfied.

The spiritual life can sometimes seem self-indulgent. Why spend all that time in meditation, rituals, and self-care when your inbox is piling up, and real-life dramas are put on hold? Yet this is what allows you to better serve others. Turn away from the world, go on retreat – for a moment, an hour, a week – and cultivate your innate garden. Remember that simple adage, “If you don’t have anything nice to say …”? Take a time out from that roommate, family or co-worker dispute you’ve been trying to mediate, and let silence do its thing.

Every sign has its weaknesses and strengths. Avoidance may be a classic Piscean trait, but so is the ability to go deep and find the light. When all else fails, seek your own counsel. Others may see it as backtracking, cowardice, or selfishness. Let them. This isn’t the time to worry about what others may think, or even want. Only you know what you need to do to process your thoughts and emotions, and retrace that path to your highest good.
